OK folks,
With me advertising, and new members and perspective members interested, I think it's time for a change in competitions. I'd like your input on this.
I have some scenarios for managing competitions and I would love your thoughts.
WHO'S RUNNING THE SHOW?
1. Every member with a skater character must manage a competition, assigned by the admin.
1. a. The competitions must be managed by someone who does NOT have a skater in that particular competition.
1. b. For Worlds, Olympics, etc., the competition will be managed by as many members as there are disciplines (example, four), each doing a discipline of the competition.
1. c. Those members must manage a discipline of which they are not a part (EXAMPLE ONLY) (Lanie doesn't have any ice dance characters, so she would do that, Andy doesn't have any ladies, he would do that, Marsha doesn't have any pairs, and Stef doesn't have any men)
SCORING IDEAS
OK here's where it could get annoying for some. For RP purposes, I switched from the 6.0 to the CoP. When you read Cup of Russia '08 scene in Competitions you can understand why. So I'm not sure how everyone would take to that. But as for scoring in general, like in CoP each element would have a base value, and then those managing the competitions would use a number system to determine how well it was done, if it was done cleanly, etc. As in real life skating, highest total wins. I think it can work out well with more than one member bearing all of the burden of managing a competitions, hence my suggestions above. The elements' base values will be the same as they are in real life.
However we do allow some elements that have not been done; within reason of course. Example, quad Lutz, flip, and loop, and combinations that haven't been done such as 4sal-3t-3sal. Keep in mind the "within reason" part (hence no quad Axel).
For the artistic part, I think we can take into account the amount of description in the written program, choice of music, etc.
OK... I don't know if there's anything else offhand, so I yield the floor to my members for input and other suggestions!
