Mesuni left Jamie’s house at 7:00 in the morning. But not before brushing her teeth, making him an egg white omelet and a good bye kiss. She was in a very good mood on the bus on her way home, but once she got home her mood was changed. She had barely closed the door before she heard more than one voice ask…
“Where the hell have you been?”
Mesuni looked up to see her brother and his bestfriend standing in the livingroom of their apartment; equal looks of concern and anger on their faces.
“Good morning Kai, Sky,” Mesuni smiled. “Shouldn’t you lot be getting ready for practice or school so minding your own business?” She asked sweetly.
“I was worried, you should have at least called if you weren’t coming home.”
“Shut up Sky!” Mesuni rolled her eyes. “Don’t you every go home? You’re always here.” Mesuni was just teasing him, but he was so annoying.
“Where were you?” Kai asked in a gentle tone. “At least tell me who you were with.”
“I was with Jamie, don’t worry nothing happened. We fell asleep watching a movie…” That is all Mesuni told them, it was all they needed to know.
“Jamie Abbott? You lucky bitch,” Sky said with a heavy sigh. He smiled at Mesuni. “Does Ana know?” Mesuni shook her head. “Ooh, let me call and tell her! She’s going to shit a brick!”
“Shut up!” Mesuni and Kai said together. “Why should Ana care that I was with Jamie?” Mesuni continued. Ana had been vocal about Mesuni spending time with Jamie Abbott: the single dad. Mesuni didn’t care.
“You look well rested, so obviously nothing happened…” Sky sounded disappointed. “Is he a good kisser?”
“That is none of your business,” Mesuni said, but she couldn’t help smiling. YES he was a very good kisser. Both Kai and Sky caught on and laughed. “Whatever. I’m going to grab a shower. I’ve got practice in an hour.” Mesuni didn’t feel any need to say anything else to her brother and stupid friend.

Mesuni had finished practice and was excited to go see Jamie, because she hadn't seen him in a day. She was hooked and lame and really liked her boyfriend. She called and said she would be coming over, which shouldn't have been a surprise; she just hoped he wasn't being polite when he said it was okay. LAME. She was at his door in no time, an overnight bag in one hand (just in case), and some food for dinner.
It was a long day at the office. Jamie had to stay late, listening to stupid investment banker blowhards blah blah blahing around him at a meeting. He zoned out. He got to leave, eventually, but he'd been home for no more than five minutes when Mesuni called. Sure. He didn't have time to warn her he was exhausted and hadn't shaved so he was scruffy. "Hey," he said when he opened the door, looking totally out of it, but he managed to smile.
"Oh my god, are you dead?" Mesuni had never seen him look so tired. "I shouldn't have come; you need to get some rest." She only thought about leaving for a half a second. "I'll fix you dinner then you can sleep okay?" "Halfway to my grave," Jamie said in a zombievoice, but he chuckled, closing the door behind her. "You don't have to cook; I'm too tired to be hungry. Unless you want to. I'll stay awake for you."
"You don't have to stay awake for me," Mesuni said. "You should eat something; it won't take long to warm up. I brought this from home, it's healthy." He really looked so tired; Mesuni didn't want to keep him awake.
Jamie smiled at her. "Thanks. I might fall asleep on the plate; you need to promise me you won't take a picture of it and put it up on Facebook."
"I make no promises at all," Mesuni laughed. "Go sit down and I'll bring it to you when it's ready." Mesuni playfully pushed him toward the living room.
"Ha, fine. You're cute, taking care of me." He reached out to ruffle her hair, just to be annoying.
"Don't do that, brat," Mesuni swatted his hand away. "You know you can take off your coat and tie, you're at home now," Mesuni teased him, flicking his tie with the tips of her fingers.
"Fine, fine, I won't harass you." Jamie eyed her. "It just so happens I walked in the door, and you rang me; didn't have time to exactly get decent and out of my ridiculous work clothes," he said as he pulled off his tie and tossed his coat...somewhere.
"No, you can harass me, just don't miss up my hair," Mesuni eyed him back. "You look good with the five o clock shadow, I like it." She ran her hand over his scruff. "Okay, I've got some stuff to warm up." She set her overnight bag on the sofa and took the other bag with her as she headed for the kitchen.
"Good, then I'll stop shaving," Jamie joked. "I can look like Sasquatch if I wanted. But I wouldn't do that to you. That and it would probably terrify poor Charlotte."
"Sexy scruff is a bit different from Sasquatch. Please no wolfman." Mesuni smiled back at him. He wasn't flirting with her, but he was joking around and that made her happy.
Jamie laughed. "I never tried, but it probably would work. If I don't shave every day I get like this. At least you like it."
"I really do, but I like you shaved too." Mesuni really just wanted to rub her face against his. Mesuni popped the container into the microwave and turned back to look at him. "Since you won't go sit down, come here."
Jamie ambled over, his hands in the pockets of his slacks, before he went about unbuttoning the buttons on the wrist and the first two buttons at the collar. "I feel like an idiot overdressed for a date or something."
"You are very over dressed compared to me and my yoga pants," Mesuni pointed out. When he finally was there standing in front of her, Mesuni just reached up and hugged him.
Jamie relaxed, just a bit, wrapping his arms around her. "Thanks for coming over. Sorry I'm not fantastic company right now."
"You don't have to thank me. I just wanted to see you, I'm happy to be here with you." Hugging Jamie made Mesuni's heart race. The microwave binged, but she still held Jamie for a little longer. "Foods ready."
"Yeah." Jamie didn't sound like he particularly wanted to go to the microwave, his arms around her. He leaned forward, hunching over, so he could rest his chin on the top of her head. "I know." He felt like he didn't need to say anything. All the stress from the crappy day was slowly going away. It was nice.
Mesuni rubbed his back, he seemed to need it. "I like this," Mesuni whispered. She wanted to bury her face in his chest or any number of slightly childish things, but instead she continued to hold him. "Did you fall sleep?" she joked, if he was using her as a chin rest, she was going to kick him.
"No, but I just might." Jamie pulled away from her, although he didn't want to. He stretched out his arms behind him. "Cuddling on the couch sounds better than a microwaved dinner, to be perfectly honest."
A part of Mesuni's brain said to make sure he ate something, but the silly girlfriend part of her brain screamed 'yay! Cuddling!'. "You've talked me into it," Mesuni smiled and grabbed his hand. "You can eat whenever, cuddling time is important!"
"More important than food," agreed Jamie as he let her lead him to the couch. He plopped down and opened his arms to her like a good gallant boyfriend. "Come here."
Mesuni happily crawled into his arms. "Aren't you glad I called you?" She asked. Mesuni was practically sitting on his lap, but he was still the gentleman and Mesuni really liked that. "Kiss me already!"
No more gentleman, apparently, because he pulled her into his lap. "Fine. You're so demanding," Jamie said with a mock sigh before leaning in to give her a gentle kiss, and then, well, a real one.
Kissing Jamie was intense, Mesuni was sure he didn't have a clue what he did to her. Mesuni's hands rested on his chest, then found their way to his hair. Mesuni liked running her fingers through his hair. Mesuni liked everything about kissing Jamie.
And she probably didn't know what it did to him either, or he tried to hide it, anyway. Jamie had been good at that with various girlfriends, and Mesuni was definitely the least experienced of them. It was fine by him. "I'd say this isn't cuddling," he said with a laugh as he pulled away, but went right back to kissing her, holding her close as he leaned back against the back of the couch.
"I'd say it's better than cuddling," Mesuni replied when they took a small breather. "Kissing you is better than chocolate," she had to tell him that, because it was true.
"Chocolate, really? Wow. I'm impressed." Jamie kissed her nose. "Snogging is better than cuddling," he agreed. "Though this makes me feel like a randy teenager, snogging on the sofa."
"There is nothing wrong with being randy and snogging on the sofa. Teenager has nothing to do with it!" Mesuni trailed a finger down his neck.
"No. Nothing wrong with it. I'm making you talk like a proper Englishwoman, aren't I?" Jamie teased, amused at how she picked up his slang. "Snogging, randy, soon enough you'll be speaking Cockney or something."
"Speaking what now?" Mesuni made a face like she was shocked at what he said. "Like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppin's? Yeah, I don't see that happening. I have enough of an accent."
"Your accent is cute. Mine is posh and I sound like a right ass," Jamie declared.
"I like your accent, that mixed with your voice is a pretty dangerous combination. Sexy..." She pretty much hissed the word sexy because she was a weird chick.
Jamie laughed. "Sexy? Good, I'm glad you think so. I like your voice. Husky is sexy, just so you're aware," he told her, kissing her nose.
Mesuni laughed. "Most people are concerned when they hear me speak. I've been advised by people I don't know to stop smoking more than once... I don't smoke. I think people expect me to be all high pitched and squeaky... I'm sorry. I ramble..." She shook her head and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Smoking is disgusting, don't do it or I'll yell at you," said Jamie who probably couldn't yell at anyone. He returned the kiss, pulling her down on top of him as he flopped back onto the couch. "It's cute when you ramble," he said, running his thumb along her jaw.
"Good, I am glad you like it... I do it a lot." Mesuni made herself at home. Her heart fluttered whenever he touched her sweetly like that. "If I ever talk too much, just kiss me and shut me up."
Jamie laughed. "Alright. That's easy enough." He kissed her, his hands on either side of her face, then he let go, his hands on her shoulders then to the small of her back, but he was a gentleman and he wouldn't go any further than that with her. "I don't know how much longer I can handle this before you make me crazy," he mumbled.
Mesuni completely knew how he felt. Everything always left her wanting more. But the truth was that she wasn't ready for more. "I'm sorry," she apologized because she felt bad for not being ready to give him more than kisses.
"It's fine." No, it's not! said his hormones, but Jamie told them to take a hike please. "Don't worry about it. Not something you want to rush into, trust me.
"It's not really," Mesuni sighed, looking at him. "I have to worry about it. This isn't fair to you... But I do thank you for being the gentleman you always are." Mesuni kissed him once more. "Okay, that's enough of that! If it makes you feel better you've got me pretty worked up."
Jamie frowned at her. "It's fine. If you're not ready then you're not, and I don't want to rush you into anything," he said, very seriously. "You can probably notice what you do to me, sadly. Being a man is no fun."
"And when I am ready?" Mesuni asked, this was a good conversation to have with her new boyfriend. She did notice the affect she had on him, and that did make her happy, but she couldn’t say that. "I'm sure there are some perks to being male... I can't think of any..."
"Tell me?" Jamie had never had this conversation before. Every girl he slept with (which wasn't very many) had experience. This was a little weird. "I'm not expecting anything. And no, no perks. I don't know what's going on with you, but everyone can tell with a man." He sounded a little embarrassed.
"Why aren't you expecting anything, shouldn't you be expecting something?" Mesuni never really considered sleeping with any of her previous boyfriends. She could really see herself being with Jamie, like that. "Do you want to know what's going on with me? I'm hot and bothered and yeah, that's what's going on with me."
"Oh, good. I'm sure you can tell I'm the same bloody way," Jamie said with a short laugh. "No. I'm not expecting anything. This is fine. I'll get over it eventually."
Mesuni sat up, creating a little distance between them. "Cold showers? I hear that works," Mesuni joked. "Would it freak you out if I told you that you are the only person I've thought about in this way?" She was hoping to make him feel better.
Jamie sat up, wishing he could adjust his pants without being totally obvious. "It doesn't," he said. "Not for me. Might for some lucky bastard." He cocked his head to the side. "No. Why would it...freak me out?"
"Okay, so showers don't work what about thinking about sports?" Now Mesuni was teasing him. She purposely looked at his face and nowhere else. "Because it seems like a silly thing to admit to ones boyfriend. I don't want you to be unsure when I decide that I am ready."
He just shook his head, wanting to laugh at her, but Jamie looked serious again. "I'm going to be unsure just...because that's what I'm like," he said with a shrug.
"You can't be unsure!" Mesuni was smiling, but she was serious. "One of us has to take the lead when it's time. I can't, I mean I can, but I want you too, get it?"
"I think so. But I'm going to ask you probably twenty times if you are. I don't want you to regret it."
"I don't make choices to regret them." Mesuni replied. "I like being with you and I when I am ready, you can have me."
Jamie smiled and leaned in to give her a kiss. "Good. No pressure. Don't worry about it. I'm not like that but you already know that."
"Thank you." Mesuni kissed him back, again resting in his arms. She was so falling for his man.

The two of them were cuddling in his bed, talking and kissing and cuddling and trying not to talk about sleeping together because Jamie thought his head would explode if Mesuni tried to tease him anymore. He was going to be a gentleman, damn it. "Do you want to stay over?" he asked, because he liked it when she did.
"Yep," Mesuni replied, without having to think about it. "You can't get rid of me that easy." Was she teasing him on purpose, no. Was she having fun? YES. "My place is always loud and noisy. It's quiet here. And you're here, which is a huge plus."
"Thank God for silence," Jamie joked. "Nice and quiet here. I could just imagine if I went over to your place, but I'm still convinced Kai wants to kill me..."
Mesuni laughed, "Kai doesn't want to kill you, he's just an overprotective little brother. He likes you, he thinks you're a good guy," Mesuni assured him while strumming her fingers across his stomach. "If you came over, my brother would probably try to talk you into playing video games or poker or something like that."
"Video games. Poker. I've actually never played poker," Jamie said, thinking aloud. "I'd much rather just hang out with you rather than try to play poker with your brother..."
"That's the right answer!" Mesuni said. "My brother in an awful poker player, but I'd rather you spend time with me than with my brother. I'd get jealous."
"I'd rather spend time with you over pretty much anyone. Except Charlotte. Sorry." Jamie ruffled Mesuni's hair, knowing that wouldn't bother her. Charlotte was #1 in his life with Mesuni almost a close tie.
"I would have to agree with you completely." Mesuni thought about it and realized that both Jamie and Charlotte were as important to her as Kai. "Charlotte has to come first, I was her friend first," Mesuni said with a nod. "Keep messing with my hair, you are going to force me to mess with you," she warned, but really she didn't mind at all.
"Mess with me? Do I really want to know?" Jamie asked, raising his eyebrows, trying to put on his innocent face but it never, ever looked right. "Yes, you were her friend first. She asks about you. Next time my mother calls I'll have her put Charlotte on so you can talk to her, she wanted to talk to you the other day."
"You know what I mean," Mesuni made a face at Jamie trying to be innocent, she knew better. "I would love to talk to her, I miss her like crazy. Is she having a good time with your parents?"
"She always does, she's the only granddaughter," laughed Jamie. "Spoiled. Even more than you spoil her. My mother is delighted there's another girl in the family; she's overrun with men and boys."
"She's sweet and deserves to be spoiled." Mesuni laughed. "Really, all boys and only Charlotte? I have no doubt that Charlotte can handle herself."
"She can, she likes to punch her cousins. My poor mum had five boys. My brothers have kids, all boys. So my mum is happy I was the one who had a girl. Poor her, she got grey hair early with all of us."
"Five boys? Good lord. Were you all a handful? I can imagine the trouble five boys can get into. But I must admit that your Mother has done a wonderful job raising you. Are all your brothers as nice as you?"
"Ah. No." Jamie rolled over onto his side to look at Mesuni. "I'm the baby. They're all in the armed forces, you know, military guys. Pretty tough. And I'm the...figure skater. They're all polite; our mum would have killed us if we were any other way."
He paused. "I was a pretty good kid, I just got beat up on a lot." "So you had to stand out, I like it," Mesuni smiled. "You're the baby and I'm the oldest, that's kinda funny." Mesuni played with his hair. "Well it must be nice to know that your child can beat up their children."
"Yeah, she's making up for it. I never hit 'em back, I just ignored it." Jamie took her hand that was messing with his hair and kissed her palm, just because. "I probably couldn't clock someone in the face if I needed to. Unless I was being awesome and rescuing you from...someone. Then I could be a badass superhero."
"Aww, you said badass," Mesuni laughed. "I'd trust you to save me. I'm a ninja so I'd have to save you," she joked.
"I said a bad word. I know." Jamie rolled his eyes. "Hey, you can't save me. That's not how it works. I'm the man; I have to rescue my damsel in distress."
"Fine, you can save me but I am no damsel in distress!" Mesuni lightly poked his dimple. "I think it would be very romantic to be rescued, but I'm way too practical to need saving."
"That's fine; I'd probably be a terrible knight in shining armor to save you. Glad that kind of situation won't arise so I don't need to worry about it!"
"It might so keep your armor ready," Mesuni stretched out like a cat, they had been laying there for a long time. "You're bed is a lot bigger than mine," Mesuni observed. "This is also a lot better than sleeping on your couch."
Jamie laughed. "The first time you stayed over I thought about asking you to come in here but I didn't want to come off as a creep," he admitted.
"I'm glad you didn't," Mesuni smiled. "I wouldn't have known what to think. It was more innocent with us sleeping on the couch, I think. Whatever I'm silly like that. But I like it here now!"
"Yeah, I don't drag a girl to my bedroom the first time we go out on a date or anything," Jamie said. "Did it once. Bad idea."
"Really, who was she?" Mesuni couldn't imagine Jamie doing anything like that. "Why was it a bad idea, what happened?" Mesuni was curious about everything Jamie.
"That's what happens when you go to a university party and get completely plastered," Jamie explained, sounding a little abashed that he was actually telling her this. "When your brain doesn't function and you don't remember a damn thing in the morning. Yeah. I did some stupid stuff."
Mesuni had an amused look on her face. "You really don't remember what happened? See, this is why I don't drink, I like to remember my fuckups."
He still looked totally embarrassed. "No. I don't remember a lot of those times. I never did anything too stupid like just about everyone else I knew who'd wake up with a random girl, but..."
"Stop it, it's okay, you were a kid. If I weren't a skater I'd probably be a party girl." Mesuni tickled him under his chin. "You shouldn't be embarrassed; I've heard some drunken horror stories."
Jamie made a face, putting her hand down on the bed so she'd stop tickling him. "I can see you as a party girl," he agreed reluctantly. "After a few too many drunken nights I decided it was a bad idea. I went to an exam drunk once. Didn't think I had it in me, eh?"
"I'd rather be a book worm than a party girl," Mesuni said thoughtfully. "I'm the serious twin." Mesuni lifted her hand back to his head, this time running her fingers through the hair. "I can kind of see the party boy in you. You're not as innocent as I first thought."
Jamie looked surprised. "You can, huh? Why is that? Just curious."
"Well, it's like you try so very much to be the good guy, like you are battling back the bad boy," Mesuni answered looking him over.
Jamie thought about it. "Maybe. I think it was more I was just...being an idiot like every other uni kid. At least I never slept around."
"Not that you didn't have plenty of chances I'm sure," Mesuni snorted. "You don't kiss like a good boy," She pointed out. Just to tease him.
"Really?" To annoy her, and also be a tease, Jamie leaned in to kiss her neck. "Lots of opportunities, but..." He trailed off. "Never was interested in casual sex."
Mesuni squirmed away from his kisses. He was always starting something. "I was never interested in casual sex either, we have so much in common," she joked because obviously she was a virgin.
Jamie smiled innocently at her. At least he could do that properly. "Which is why you like to tease and torment me."
Mesuni pouted. "I'm not trying to do either of those things." Mesuni returned the favor and kissed his neck. Neither of them was playing fair.
"You are right now. You know you are," Jamie grumbled.
"I do not know that I am doing anything wrong..." Mesuni said. She didn't stop even thought she knew she probably should. "Your grumpy voice is sexy..."
"Knock it off." Jamie was trying to sound assertive, because he was the guy and he controlled the situation, damn it, but nope. Instead he pushed her away and pinned her down on the bed. "I'll stay grumpy for awhile thanks to you." He couldn't sound mad at her, because he was half-smiling, trying not to crack up laughing.
"Can someone be happy and grumpy at the same time?" Mesuni was smiling. She liked Jamie like this. "I guess 'I'm sorry' wouldn’t do anything help..." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'm sorry," but she laughed which pretty much proved that she wasn't.
"I'm not grumpy, you're just...making me uncomfortable." Jamie frowned down at her, but she was laughing, and it was cute, so he smiled instead.
"I'll be good, I promise." Mesuni always got carried away and always seemed to forget the position she put Jamie in. "I'm sorry, I'll back off." She was still smiling, but she meant it. "All you have to do is get off of me." The choice was his.
"But you like it," Jamie said with a little laugh, kissing her nose then deciding to get back at her, kissing her neck. "I'll leave you alone, then." He flopped down next to her, staring at the ceiling.
Jamie moved before she could tell him not to. Mesuni sighed her disappointment. "We're masochists."
He inhaled and exhaled deeply. "Yeah. You're worse than me," Jamie accused lightly. "It's fine. I'll survive."
"It's getting harder and harder to stop myself," she admitted. "You suck." Yes, it was his fault. "I'd be fine if you weren't so grabable."
Jamie glanced over to her, pursing his lips to stop a laugh. "Is that a word?"
"Yes, it is," Mesuni gave him a look. "It's the only word I know that describes you. Grabable, meaning that I always want to touch you."
Jamie pulled her over to snuggle up against him, because. He liked to cuddle. "Same here. You just make me uncomfortable. You just think it's fun." He paused. "I was going to take a week off work and go home; do you want to come with me? You don't have to. I'd be bringing Charlotte back with me.'
"I really don't want to make you uncomfortable, but I guess I can't help it. Please forgive me." Mesuni smiled. "Seriously, I would love to! I want to surprise Charlotte."
"Really?" Jamie was surprised she said she actually wanted to. "Think Parker would even let you? That and... I don't know. My parents would probably scare you. But that's okay, Charlotte would be really happy." He paused. "You’d probably have to stay with them a bit, I have some...things to do."
"I am pretty sure my parents are scarier," Mesuni smiled. "Parker can't stop me, but I'll probably have to skate laps until I die. I don't mind spending time with Charlotte and your parents. What sort of things do you have to do?"
"Don't die on me. You can skate laps for days, can't you? I think you can." Jamie (for the first time around Mesuni) actually looked a little cagey at her question. "Nothing. Just...things in London, nothing big, not a big deal. I wouldn't even be busy long."
Mesuni knew that if it were something serious he would tell her so she let it pass. "I can skate forever! It's what I do." Mesuni sighed. "I'm already nervous... I think..."
"Nervous about what?" Jamie asked. "My parents? They'll like you. They were the ones who warned me off on my ex. Didn't listen." He paused. He felt bad not telling her. "I have to deal with her. Finalizing the divorce," he said dryly as if it didn't bother him anymore. It still did. "So you can... uh... play with Charlotte or something while I deal with that."
"Oh, that sucks," Mesuni said understandingly. "Of course I'll hang out with Charlotte while you're dealing with that drama. No worries," Mesuni smiled to let him know it was okay.
"At least I never have to see her again." Jamie realized that was an assy thing to say, but damn it, she fucked him over badly. He could be pissed. "Still not looking forward to dealing with it. you sure you want to come?"
"That's something to smile about," Mesuni tried to joke. "It's better to face it than to put it off... I'm coming and you can't stop me."
"I guess. I feel horrible saying it," he admitted. "I just can't get angry about it. Waste of time." Jamie hugged Mesuni to him, wanting a hug, damn it. Or something. "I'm glad you'll come."
Mesuni hugged him back. There was always a little sadness that came out when he talked about his ex. "You don't have to feel bad about wanting this done with. You aren't to blame."
Jamie squeezed her shoulder. "Yeah," he said quietly. He wasn't exactly sad for himself, more for Charlotte whose mother wasn't interested in her at all. "I just wish Charlotte could have a mother. But. She had too much fun with other guys behind my back; she didn't want her in the first place..."
Mesuni was about to say that Charlotte had her, but this wasn't the time. "Charlotte has a family who adores her, she has you." She wasn't surprise to hear that his ex was a whore. "So she was the party girl/whore that couldn't be bothered into giving up her life for her child... You both are better off without."
"Yeah." He snorted. "I was stupid enough to talk her into going to the Register's Office. Let's get married! Too bad I wasn't drunk then, I'd have had a decent explanation for lack of common sense." Jamie actually sounded...gasp...mad; more to the point, bitter. "I can't say that now, then I wouldn't have Charlotte and she's my life, but a little judgment wouldn't hurt. I really don't even want to have to look at her."
"We are happy that Charlotte is here. Common sense has nothing to do with it. You loved her; there is nothing wrong with that." Mesuni stroked his hair. "When you have to see her, just think of coming back to me..."
"I probably will," he said, rolling over to give her a gentle kiss. "Believe me when I say I won't do anything--ever--to hurt you. I'm serious. It sucks. I don't want anything like that, anything, that to happen to you."
"I believe you. I know you wouldn't hurt me. I want you to know that I won't hurt you or Charlotte. I'm going to be good to you." Mesuni kissed him.
Jamie smiled at her, a little sadly. "Good." He kissed her nose. "Sorry I'm all...melancholy. I've just been worried about it and, well, I thought you ought to know."
"Thank you for telling me," Mesuni said looking back at him. "You don't have to apologize to me. Just keep talking to me and I hope you feel better."
"I will eventually. I just get down when I think too much about it. It's...not fair to Charlotte to just have me around. It's why I want her to be with my family too, be with other people who love her."
"Charlotte couldn't hope for a more devoted father, you are amazing with her." Mesuni would continue to repeat that over and over if needed. "And you're family loves her and I adore her." Mesuni wrapped her arms around him.
Jamie kissed her head. "You're sweet. I'm glad you just make me feel better instead of trying to make me talk too much about it."
"If you actually sounded like you wanted to talk about it, I'd make you, but you don't so I won't." Mesuni explained in her special little way. "What you need is cuddling until you fall asleep."
"That would make me feel better," Jamie agreed.

Mesuni was rolling her eyes so much, he half feared that they would just fall out of her head. Mesuni had stupidly answered the phone, and was now paying for it. Talking to her mother at all was just pointless, but lengthy conversations were the worse and Mesuni could feel that this was going to be a long one.
Mesuni and her mother had never actually got along. Actually neither Heawg twin was particularly close to their parents. It was just one of those things. The twins were more than happy to move to America when they were 13 and only visit their ‘home’ on occasion. Mesuni knew her mother resented her, and rightly she resented her mother in return.
Mesuni’s mother was once upon a time young and beautiful and talented. She married young and had the twins young. And suddenly she was a mom, ewww. She put her children first, but it only because she thought that is what a mother should do, not because she wanted to be a loving mother. And when the children were old enough to not be such a damn burden (thank you skating lessons) she followed her dreams and achieve everything she wanted that her children almost stole from her.
Okay so that was a little dramatic, but that was how their mother made the twins feel. She was just forty and acted like her world was over and it was all their fault.
“So Mesuna, I have it all arranged. Jun Pyo can’t wait to see you in August!”
Mesuni was on the verge of saying ‘okay’ because if she was being honest she hadn’t heard anything her mother told her. “Why would I be meeting with Jun Pyo in August?” Jun Pyo was the man her mother had been trying to set her up with since she was seventeen.
“Because he’s your boyfriend,” her mother replied with a cackle that should have been a laugh.
“No, he isn’t. He only wanted to date me because of you. You told him I was a virgin and he could marry me. That doesn’t make him my boyfriend.” Mesuni smiled. NOW would be the perfect time to mention her REAL boyfriend.
“Of course I told him you were untouched. You say that like it’s a bad thing to be.” She scoffed and the sound made Mesuni want to rip her hair out.
“And you keep reminding him as if it’s still the truth. Think, Mother, What if I'm not a virgin anymore?” Mesuni could hear her mother’s calm resolve crack.
“DON’T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT TO ME! You have to still be a virgin! Who would marry a whore?”
Mesuni rolled her eyes again. “Who said I was whoring myself? I’m talking about being with one man who happens to not be Jun Pyo.” Mesuni sighed, dramatically. “I don’t think Jamie wants me seeing pseudo ex boyfriends, for inept matchmaking dinners. Give my regards to Jun Pyo.”
“Boyfriend? Jamie? God Mesuni, tell me you aren’t pregnant!”
“Calm down. I haven’t even slept with him… Yet.” Mesuni said. “Don’t worry I’ll use protection when I do.” Mesuni was being a brat.
“Jamie? Jamie who?” her mother was not going to let this go. She probably thought Mesuni was lying.
“James Abbott.” Mesuni rolled her eyes. Her mother was good with names.
“James Abbott that skater who lost to your brother?” There was a dramatic pause. “Mesuni he is old!”
Mesuni wanted to point out that anyone younger than her was still considered young. “He’s no older than Jun Pyo. And even better, I like him.” Mesuni knew these points would mean nothing to her mother.
“Give me a break. Mesuni, Jun Pyo is a DOCTOR, a doctor! And this James Abbott is a skater.”
“No, actually he’s retired.” Mesuni could tell her what Jamie did for living and how great a man he was, but Mesuni knew it wouldn’t matter to her, and Mesuni didn’t want to have to defend Jamie. He was above her mother’s judgment.
“Fantastic, he’s a former figure skater. Jun Pyo is currently a doctor!”
“And currently I couldn’t care any less!” Mesuni wanted to scream.
Kai walked into the living room and could tell by the look on Mesuni’s face who she was talking to and laughed. “We have caller ID stupid.”
“Hey mom, do you want to talk to Kai?” Mesuni said with an evil grin passing the phone to her brother.
“Hey Mom,” Kai mumbled something angry at Mesuni, but he took the phone. “Nope, no girlfriend yet. Yes I am coming back in August, it’s Kai HEAWG day. Yep, my bestfriend is still sexually confused. Bye.” And he actually hung up the phone. “See that was easy. Talking to Mom is fun!”
Mesuni laughed and grabbed her bag before the phone rang again. “I’m going over to Jamie’s, be back in the morning!” She grabbed her keys of the table and left.
Not even a second after Mesuni left the phone rang and rang and rang.
