The only portion of elegible competitions that allows vocals is the Free Dance.
Men, Ladies, and Pairs must use orchestral or instrumental works. Certain choir and orchestra pieces are also allowed. Send the music to me for approval if you have questions. Examples of these pieces are:
Carmina Burana by Carl Orff Mozart's Requiem Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and other works with made-up/dead languages sung by choir with accompanying orchestra.
If the piece has vocals in it, upload it to a server such as Verzend and I will download and listen to it, and give you my approval or suggest something else.
If you have nonvocal pop songs (for example I have TLC's "No Scrubs" without any singing), they can be used as program music if the time limit is right.
Short programs/Original Dance: 2:50 Ladies Long: 4:00 +/- 10 seconds (which makes it minimum 3:50, maximum 4:10) Mens and Pairs Long/Free Dance: 4:30 +/- 10 (again, minimum 4:20, maximum 4:40)
I personally use Windows Movie Maker to edit music but you can use whatever music editor you prefer.
